Cassandra

At the beginning of this month, I commented on the decision by the Chicago Sun-Times to sack its entire photographic staff- including a Pulitzer Prize winner and instead to replace them with reporters toting iPhones.

I think the iPhone is a quite useful photographic device, but it does have limits, and if you want good photography you need a good camera. And a good photographer: not a reporter who has to write and juggle an iPhone.

A blog with the name of SunTimes/DarkTimes has a comparison of two front pages today: one from the Chicago Sun-Times and the other from the Chicago Tribune. Both report on the same event: The Blackhawks winning the Stanley Cup.

The images speak for themselves.
