Cassandra

Recently it was announced that Tumblr was to allow Live Photos and I speculated then that it would probably not be long before this facility appeared in other apps. FaceBook is coming soon. . .

I have been told that the Facebook roll-out will start with a small percentage of users globally, with an expansion in the new year. When this does become available, users will be able to press and hold on the Live Photo to see it in motion and sound.

Currently we can view and share Live Photos across other Apple devices, including iOS devices with iOS 9, Apple Watch and Macs running Photos in El Capitan.

This is how to post Live Photos using the FaceBook app when this is available:

  • From the News Feed, click Photo and select your Live Photo (look for the concentric Live Photo circle in the corner)

  • Before you hit Post, tap on the lower right hand corner of the photo where it says "Live" - this will ensure you upload in the Live format.

  • Add any message as normal and click Post

This is what it looks like. . . .
