Lytro

Lytro, a company in the United States that makes an unusual camera that has an unusual way of capturing the light from an image so that the whole depth of field is used, has started shipping the camera to the first customers.

At this time the device is only available in the United States, but the information from Lytro suggests that there are plans to expand internationally at some time in the future.

There are three models available currently: the Graphite and Electric Blue which have the capacity for 350 pictures on the 8GB storage; and the Red Hot which has 16GB and will store up to 750 images. The 8GB cameras ate priced at $399, while the Red Hot (16GB) has a price tag of $499.
